Rev. Peter Snieg
(B.A., Northeastern Illinois University,
S.T.B., M.Div., S.T.L., Unversity of St. Mary of the Lake - Mundelein Seminary;)
was ordained a priest in 1993. Prior to ordination, he taught briefly in the Chicago
Public School system and was a manager for a large local grocery chain. After ordination,
he was Associate Pastor of St. Priscilla parish for two years while teaching at Quigley Preparatory High School Seminary. In June of 1998, he became the Dean of Formation, and in June of 1999, he was appointed the Rector of Quigley. Father Snieg served as Rector, Dean of Formation and President of Quigley Seminary until its closure in June of 2007. From July 2007 to June 2010, he was Vice-Rector and Dean of Formation at St. Joseph College Seminary, and Director of the Quigley Scholars Program. In July 2010 he was appointed Rector-President of St. Joseph College Seminary.
Rev. Paul Cao
(B.A., Philosophy,
Loyola
University; M.Div., D.Min. (cand.), University of St. Mary of the Lake - Mundelein
Seminary) was ordained in 2001. He was an Associate Pastor at
St. William Parish in
Chicago, IL from 2001 to 2005. He was a Spiritual Director at St.
Joseph
from 2004 to 2005. In July 2005 he became Director of Liturgy and a
member
of the Formation Team at St Joseph. He is also an alumnus of St.
Joseph,
class of 1997.
Rev. Pawel Komperda
(B.A. Philosophy, Loyola University; M.Div. University of St. Mary of the Lake Mundelein Seminary), an alumnus of Archbishop Quigley Preparatory Seminary, class of 1999; alumnus of St. Joseph College Seminary, class of 2002; Ordination class of 2006. Fr. Pawel served as an Associate Pastor in two parishes: Prince of Peace in Lake Villa, 2006-2009; St. Thecla in Chicago, 2009-2011. He also served as a Spiritual Director at St. Joseph College Seminary, 2007-2011. Currently he is the Associate Director for Admissions and Formation at St. Joseph College Seminary.
Rev. Laurence F. Maddock
(M.A., S.T.L., Unversity of St. Mary of the
Lake - Mundelein Seminary) is a native of Oak Park, IL. He attended
Quigley
Preparatory Seminary in Chicago and St. Mary of the Lake Seminary in
Mundelein,
IL. He was ordained a priest in 1956 and served in many different
parishes
in the Chicago Archdiocese, retiring in 2001 from the pastorate of St.
Ita Parish in Chicago. He is past president of the Association of
Chicago Priests
and served as Dean of the north section of Vicariate II for thirteen
years.
He is starting his third year as Director of Spiritual Formation. He is
fluent
in Spanish and worked in the Hispanic community of Chicago for more
than
twenty-five years. He was a founder of the Instituto de Liderazgo
Pastoral,
the Chicago Catolico and the Hispanic Pre-Cana. He also reinstated the
current
program for the Hispanic Diaconate. He enjoys reading and exercise.
Rev. Thomas Regan, S.J.
(A.B. Boston College, A.M., Ph.D., Fordham University, M.Div. Weston School of Theology, Post Graduate Diploma in Pastoral Theology, Heythrop College, University of London, LL.D. Fairfield University (h.c.))
entered the Society of Jesus in 1976 and was ordained a priest in 1987.
Prior to ordination he taught religious studies at Fordham Prep and philosophy
at Fairfield University and Boston College. In 1988, he was appointed assistant
professor of philosophy at Fairfield University where he subsequently received
tenure and was promoted to associate professor. Father Regan served as acting
chair (1992-1993) and then chair of the Philosophy Department (1993-2000) and
co-director of the program in Legal Studies from 1996-2000. From 2000-2002,
he was associate dean in the College of Arts and Sciences. He served six
years as the national president of Alpha Sigma Nu, the Honor Society for
all Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States, and is a past
president of the Jesuit Philosophical Association. In 2003, he was
appointed to a six year term as Provincial of the New England Province
of the Society of Jesus. During the past two years he taught philosophy
as a visiting professor at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles
and Fordham University in New York.
Rev. Michael Scherschel
(B.A. Communications, University of Dayton; S.T.B., M.Div. University of St. Mary of the Lake Mundelein Seminary) was ordained in 2007. He served at St. William Parish in Chicago, IL as an Associate Pastor from 2007 to 2011, and also as an Associate Vocation Director in Vicariate IV for the Archdiocese of Chicago. Before entering the seminary, he worked in the advertising business as a specialist in Broadcast Business Affairs. Currently he is a member of the formation faculty and serves as the Director of Recruiting.
Rev. Britto Berchmans
(Ph.D.) is pastor of St. Paul of the Cross in Park Ridge. He teaches Public Speaking - 101.
Ms. Andrea Stapleton Berger

(B.S., University of Iowa; M.A., Loras College, Dubuque, Iowa; Ph.D. (cand.) Loyola University, Chicago) is a Theology instructor at St. Joseph Seminary and the assistant to the Academic Dean. She has taught Theology at Loyola University Chicago and Lewis University in Romeoville, IL. She has also served as the Director of Operations for the National Organization for Continuing Education of Roman Catholic Clergy in Chicago. Andrea is currently a doctoral candidate in Theology at Loyola University Chicago. Before living in the Chicago area, Andrea lived in Iowa, where she worked as Director of Religious Education and earned her Masters Degree in Theology at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa.
Rev. Timothy Fiala
(B.S., University of
Illinois, Chicago; STB, M. Div., STL, Unversity of St. Mary of the Lake -
Mundelein Seminary; STD, John Paul II Institute at The Catholic University of America)
was ordained in 1996. He has been an associate pastor at St. Philip the
Apostle in Northfield (1996-1997) while completing his STL degree; St.
Cletus in LaGrange
(1997-2000); Divine Providence in Westchester (2000-2001). In 2001 he
was a part-time
instructor for the fourth year permanent deaconate class for the
Archdiocese
of Chicago. He also taught moral theology classes for the continuing
education
of Catholic School teachers. He is pastor of St. Domitilla Parish in Hillside.
Rev. Henry Kricek
(B.A., Loyola
University;
M.A., Catholic University of America; M.Div., S.T.L., Unversity of St. Mary of the
Lake - Mundelein Seminary) was ordained in 1980. He has taught Philosophy at
Loyola
University since 1987 and at St. Joseph Seminary since 1994. At St.
Joseph,
he has also been Academic Dean.
Dr. William Joseph Napiwocki
(B.A., M.A., Ph.D., Classical Studies,
Loyola University; S.T.B., Pontifical Faculty of St. Bonaventure, Rome)
is teaching introductory Latin. Prior to coming to St Joseph Seminary, he was
instructor of Latin and Biblical Greek, Chair of the Foreign Language Department,
Assistant Principal for Personnel and Curriculum at Archbishop Weber High School,
1971 - 1991. He was instructor of Latin and Biblical Greek, Chair of the Foreign
Language Department at Archbishop Quigley Preparatory Seminary, 2000-2007. He is
a former President of the Illinois Classical Conference, Chicago Classical Club,
a recipient of the Latin Teacher of the Year from the Illinois Classical Conference
and received an Ovatio for the service to the profession from the Classical
Association of the Middle West and South.
Br. Clement Burger, C.S.C.
has worked at the Seminary as night receptionist since the autumn of 2006.
Mr. Heladio Chavez
has worked at the Seminary since January, 2006 as the maintenance
engineer. He has been married fourteen years to his wife, Mirella. They
have four children.
Ms. Mayra DeLeon
was born in Gautemala. She has worked at St. Joseph Seminary since 2004
as housekeeper.
God has blessed her with two boys, Erick and Jorge, and a girl, Mayra.
She is a member of St. Ita's Church.
Dr. Brian DuSell
(D.M.A., Arizona
State University;
M.M., University of Notre Dame; B.M., University of Michigan-Ann Arbor)
has been the Director of Music at St. Joseph Seminary since 2004 and is
also
the Director of Music at St. Ignatius Church, Chicago. Dr. DuSell and
his
wife Teresa have two sons, Brian and Severin.
Ms. Pamela Ferrarini,
transferred to St. Joseph College Seminary in July of 2007 to work in the newly
established Quigley Alumni Office. Since 2011 she worked as the Rector's secretary.
Before that she worked for 10 years at Archbishop Quigley Preparatory Seminary High School.
Prior to working at Quigley she worked for a real estate management/maintenance company in Oak Park
after having worked at Sears, Roebuck and Company for 24 years.
Mr. John A. Houlihan
(M.S. Computer
Science,
U. of Illinois - Champaign/Urbana) has been with the seminary
since
1994 as math and computer science teacher and as Network Administrator.
Mrs. Yuvanka Juárez-Zavala
(B.A., Communication,
Loyola
University Chicago) joined St. Joseph College Seminary in 1996
as the Financial Aid Administrator. In 1999, she became the manager of
Human Resources in addition to her previous position. In 2010 she became Business
Manager in addition to her previous positions. Ms. Juárez-Zavala
is married to Eduardo Zavala, Jr. and they have two beautiful children,
Paolo and Ciena. She dedicates the majority of her free time to her kids and
family, but likes to sneak in a movie/play/dinner here and there.
Ms. Diana Kozojed

(B.A. and M.A.,
History, DePaul University) is the
Director of Institutional Advancement. Prior to joining the development
team in November 2006 at St. Joseph College Seminary, she was the
Special Events Coordinator at Archbishop Quigley Preparatory Seminary;
development director at Mt. Assisi Academy, Brother Rice High School,
and Mother Guerin High School; director of Project Outreach, a
community outreach program, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church; and a
history teacher at Quigley Preparatory Seminary South.
Ms. Harriet McCullough
(B.A., Journalism, Iowa State University; M.A., Liberal Studies, DePaul University)
comes to St. Joe’s with a varied background. She has worked in the field of development in recent years with nonprofit organizations, several dealing with homelessness and affordable housing issues. She worked as an adjunct professor at DePaul University in 2011 and has taught at IIT’s Master of Public Administration Program for 11 years. She teaches Ethics in the Public Sector, courses on starting and managing nonprofit organizations, and community service.
Harriet gained her experience in ethics as the First Executive Director of the Chicago of Chicago Board of Ethics (with Mayor Harold Washington), as a lobbyist in Springfield for government reforms issues, and as a trainer who created and customized ethics training for governmental agencies.
The furthest distance she traveled was to lead ethics seminars for the United States Agency for International Development and the National Democratic Institute in Latvia, Namibia, Ethiopia, and Uganda.
Harriet was a reporter and editor at Pioneer Press in the Chicago suburbs.
She is an active member of the Sheil Catholic Center in Evanston and, through Sheil, she recruited 6-8 volunteers every week to plan, cook and serve Sunday evening dinners for 15 years. In recognition of this work, she received the Connections for the Homeless Pendleton Award, 2010 as well as the 2010 Vision Keeper Award, presented by Interfaith Action of Evanston.
Mrs. Dawn Zamora
(University of Illinois) joined the staff of St. Joseph College Seminary in 2010 working in the Institutional Advancement Office. Dawn is married to Martin Zamora and they have four children, one of whom is studying for the priesthood. Dawn and her family are members of St. Barbara Parish in Bridgeport. In addition to her work at the seminary, Dawn also serves as Vice President of St. Stephen Lodge #1 of the American Slovenian Catholic Union. She also dedicates the majority of her free time to spending time with her family and volunteering at her childrens schools.
